The bottom line is you'll need to open your wallet to get anything resembling the full experience.

How to cancel Joi.com and get a refund

Cancelling is easy; getting money back is not. This follows Joi's own refund and cancellation policy and terms:

• To cancel: go to the Settings section of your profile (the terms call it My Subscriptions), choose the subscription and follow the on-screen steps. You can only cancel on the website where you bought it.
• Cancel each subscription separately: cancelling Premium does not automatically cancel any paid subscription to an individual character (a "Bot Subscription"). Those keep billing until you cancel them too.
• Timing: the cancellation applies from the next subscription month. Fees already charged and Neurons in the current month, used or not, are not refunded.
• Refunds are limited to specific cases: within 14 days of purchase you can ask support by email for a refund if your card was used fraudulently, or once for a purchase made by mistake (full refund if the Neurons are unspent, partial if some are spent). If Joi terminates your subscription for a reason other than a rules violation, it refunds unused fees pro rata. Joi says it replies to refund requests within 72 hours.
• Think twice before a chargeback: the policy warns that if you charge back a payment, Joi may disclose any or all of your private chats to prove the charge was valid.

Joi.com alternatives and how it compares

My Final Verdict: Is Joi.com Legit and Worth Your Time?

So, after all this, what’s the final word? Is Joi.com legit? Yes, it appears to be a legitimate platform with a clear privacy policy and terms of service. It's not a ghost site. Its terms identify the operator as Novi Limited, a company registered in Cyprus (reg. no. HE 407352).

Legit is not the same as private, though. Joi's privacy policy (dated 4 June 2026) earns a C, 8 of 16 points in our AI companion privacy scorecard. On the plus side, it uses external providers for age checks and says personal data is never sold. On the minus side, your text and voice messages are used to improve and develop its AI with no opt-out, partners serve advertising and analytics cookies, and staff access to chats has no chat-specific limits.

But is it good? That’s more complicated.

Joi.com has an excellent character creator and a simple interface. You can get moments of warm, engaging chat out of it. However, its value is severely undermined by a cripplingly low character limit, inconsistent AI behavior, aggressive upsells, and a broken iOS app.

For someone brand new to AI companions, it might be a harmless entry point. But for anyone seeking deep roleplay, a consistent experience, or a functional mobile app, the alternatives are far superior.
