Nomi.ai is an AI companion app from Glimpse.ai, Inc. that puts memory and ongoing conversation first. You create one or more companions, called Nomis, and talk to them by text or voice, one on one or in group chats. This review covers what Nomi documents about its features, what the free plan and the paid plans cost, how it handles privacy and adult content, how to cancel, and why you should not count on a refund. Nomi.ai holds the highest rating (4.6 of 5) in our AI girlfriend app rankings.

What Nomi AI is and who it suits
Nomi advertises itself as "An AI Companion with Memory and a Soul" and says you can "build a meaningful friendship, develop a passionate relationship, or learn from an insightful mentor". When you create a Nomi, you choose its name, base personality traits, initial interests, look and relationship type.
Best for: people who want a long-running companion that keeps track of what was said, and who mostly chat by text or voice. Less suited to: anyone who wants explicit images, which Nomi does not allow, or who needs a refund safety net, which Nomi does not offer.

Pros and cons
What speaks for Nomi
- Most documented memory: Nomi describes short-, medium- and long-term memory and lets you view and edit part of what a Nomi knows in Mind Map 2.0.
- Free plan with no time limit: 50 messages a day, and no credit card needed to start.
- Several Nomis and group chats: up to 10 of each on a paid plan, more with credits.
- Voice and media: voice messages, hands-free calls, selfies, art and AI videos.
- Open text chat: Nomi describes its chat as unfiltered and uncensored for adults.
- Published downgrade rules: currently, if you stop paying, you keep your Nomis and one-on-one chats.
What speaks against it
- No refunds as a rule: payments are nonrefundable, and refunds happen only at Nomi's discretion.
- Web prices only after login: app store prices are public, but they can differ from web prices.
- No nude images: Nomi does not allow nude photos. For explicit visuals, platforms like SecretDesires or candy.ai might be a better fit.
- Middling privacy: a C in our scorecard; training archives are kept, there is no training opt-out, and the policy does not mention encryption.
- Weak safety checks: Nomi's Terms describe no age check beyond self-declaration (its App Store listing now mentions age-assurance controls without saying what they are), and eSafety reported in March 2026 that, in the period it reviewed (July to September 2025), Nomi did not direct users to crisis support when self-harm was detected.
- Media costs extra: on a paid plan, images and videos beyond the daily allowance use credits, which only subscribers can buy.
Nomi.ai pricing: free plan vs paid
Nomi's homepage says it is free to start, with no credit card required. Its help wiki describes "an indefinite free plan with 50 messages per day", and free messages can be up to 400 characters long (800 on a paid plan). Nomi shows web prices only after you log in, so the table lists the in-app purchases from Nomi's US App Store listing.

The listing does not say what the cheaper Launch Plan includes compared with Standard, so check the plan screen in the app before choosing it. On a paid plan, Nomi's own pages name these extras: up to 10 Nomis and 10 group chats, longer messages, more daily selfie and art requests, voice messages and calls, and video creation. The public pages we checked give no daily message number for paid plans. There is no lifetime plan.
Web subscriptions are billed in USD, App Store and Google Play subscriptions in the store's currency. Nomi's wiki says web subscriptions "may sometimes offer slightly better effective pricing" than app store ones, depending on exchange rates. Twelve monthly Standard payments add up to $191.88, against $99.99 for the yearly plan, but because Nomi does not refund unused time, only commit to a year once you know you will keep using it.
What Nomi does publish clearly is what happens if you stop paying: according to its refund policy, dropping back to the free tier does not delete any Nomis and does not block one-on-one chats with them. Group chats, video creation, voice messages and calls become read-only instead. The policy says this applies "at this time" and that Nomi does "not guarantee preservation of content if an account has been downgraded".

Is Nomi.ai safe and private?
Nomi.ai is a legitimate service: it is developed by Glimpse.ai, Inc., a Maryland corporation named in its policies, and its Terms are governed by Maryland law. On privacy it lands in the middle of the pack. Its privacy policy (dated April 27, 2026) earns a C, 9 of 16 points in our AI companion privacy scorecard.
- Good: Nomi says it does not and will not sell or rent your personal information, and deleting your account in Account Settings deletes your personal information within about 28 days. The policy also names concrete security practices: network-traffic monitoring, staff training and need-to-know access.
- Less good: content in Nomi's training archives is kept after deletion (it is only no longer attributable to you), and there is no opt-out from training. The policy says nothing about sensitive data such as sexual or health details.
- Encryption: the privacy policy does not mention encryption. Nomi's wiki says end-to-end encryption "is not possible with an AI chatbot", because Nomi has to read a message to answer it. Treat your chats as readable by Nomi's systems.
- Age checks: Nomi is 18+, and its Terms say the company intends to add age verification but describe no check beyond self-declaration. Its US App Store listing (checked October 2026) now lists "Age Assurance" among its in-app controls without saying what that involves. Australia's eSafety Commissioner reported in March 2026 that, in the period it reviewed (July to September 2025), none of the four companion apps it examined, Nomi included, had meaningful age checks; Nomi committed to further age assurance (details in our laws tracker).
- Crisis support: the same eSafety report found that, in the July to September 2025 period, Nomi was one of three providers that did not direct users to crisis support when self-harm was detected. If you are struggling, contact a local crisis line rather than relying on a companion app.
So: safe to use as a legitimate paid service, but not a place for details you would not want kept. If privacy decides it for you, Kindroid, Replika and Candy.ai each earned a B in the same scorecard.
Adult content: open text chat, no nude images
Nomi describes its chat as "unfiltered and uncensored", so adult text roleplay is allowed for users over 18. Images are different: Nomi's wiki answers "No, Nomis are not permitted to take nude photos of themselves" and points to app store and payment processor rules as the reason. If explicit images matter to you, Nomi is the wrong app.
How to cancel Nomi.ai (and why you won't get a refund)
You have to cancel on the platform where you subscribed, and deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. The steps below follow Nomi's own cancellation policy (checked October 2026):
- Bought on the Nomi website: tap the Profile icon at the bottom of the home screen, open the Subscription tab, press Manage Subscription, then scroll down to Cancel Subscription and confirm.
- Bought on Android: use the same route inside Nomi, or open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon (top right), go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, select Nomi and tap Cancel subscription.
- Bought on iPhone: use the same route inside Nomi, or open your device's Settings app, tap your Apple ID name at the top, then Subscriptions, Nomi and Cancel Subscription.
Plans renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date, and you keep paid features until the current billing period ends. Refunds are the catch: Nomi's refund policy says "all payments are nonrefundable", with no refunds for buyer's remorse, lack of usage, dissatisfaction, partial months, plan downgrades or unused time if you close your account early. It may offer a partial or full refund at its sole discretion, so if something went wrong, write to support@nomi.ai. Nomi's wiki points to the free plan as the way to try a Nomi before subscribing, so use it first, then start on the monthly plan.
Nomi.ai alternatives
- For explicit images: Candy.ai (rated 4.2, privacy grade B) or SecretDesires (rated 4.3), both built around image generation, which Nomi restricts.
- For emotional support without the adult focus: Replika (rated 4.3), graded B for privacy.

Nomi.ai is our top pick for a companion that remembers: it documents its memory in more detail than its rivals, lets you see and edit part of what a Nomi knows, and supports several Nomis and group chats. The price of that is a no-refund policy and a middling C for privacy.
