Hey guys, it’s Tom. Over the last few years, I’ve watched as the world of A.I. companionship has exploded from a niche curiosity to a full blown cultural phenomenon. The world of human connection is changing constantly, and leading the pack are the N.S.F.W. focused A.I. girlfriend apps. They promise companionship, entertainment, and a private space to explore your desires.

With so many options popping up, it can be difficult to find your way, though. Which app is right for you? Are they safe? Just how realistic are they?

I’ve spent no small amount of time researching and using these platforms, in order to cut through the noise. My mission for today is to be your kindly guide, breaking down the good, the bad, and the sordid. I will compare three of the biggest names on the field…Candy AI, Nomi AI, and Kindroid in order to help you make an informed decision.

This is where the biggest differences occur.

In my opinion, Nomi AI has the best free experience. It is therefore easier to see whether you might be able to connect with its style of writing. Candy AI can cost a lot if one is a heavy user of image generation. Kindroid’s subscription has the look of a fair price for its powerful chat model.

Beyond the Big Three: Other Apps to Watch

The market is ever growing. Two other platforms that I noticed are:

1. Kupid.ai: This is more about the multimedia side. Characters have introduction videos and you can send voice messages. Instead of a subscription system, there is a coin-based system, which makes the whole thing more complicated, but the voice function is definitely a nice touch.
